If you are lucky enough to know a programmer (or in my case, be married to one), you know that the subject of content management systems (CMS’s) and their inability to integrate with analytics can be a touchy one with clients.  The client wants an easy-to-use CMS that allows them to change just about everything on the site without the aid of a trained professional (and without “breaking” anything), but they ALSO want to be able to get the full spectrum of analytics data.

Whether you are developing a site for a client, or you ARE the client, it’s hard to choose a good CMS that is worth it’s weight in gold when it comes to analytical data capabilities.  Difficult? Yes.  Impossible – not anymore!

Most CMS’s do a decent job at allowing you to manage content. Motivity is now integrated with Google Analytics, Google Website Optimizer, Google Webmaster Tools, Google Adwords and Google Maps.  Motivity is the only content management system to fully integrate these tools, and our team is excited to be the leaders of the pack with this development work.  Others may have integrated the Google Analytics API which Google released in October, but no one else has taken these integration capabilities as far as we have.

With these new features, content administrators can easily log in to Motivity and gauge site traffic, view pages most visited, and check out other fundamental analytics, all in one place.

Need ammunition for why a landing page shouldn’t have the ever-popular confetti background? Or why a page shouldn’t feature a picture of the CEO’s cat?  Using the Website Optimizer API, administrators can test different versions of pages to try out content and layouts, and diagnose usability pain points.   You can even find out what errors are causing user frustration using Webmaster Tools, and fix those broken links and errors once and for all.

Using these tools you will be able to fully grasp and adjust your site’s performance and understand what users are doing when they visit your CMS-driven website — all without leaving Motivity! Pretty nifty indeed.

You can change the date range and compare to the past to give you comparative and actionable insights into how your site is performing.  When managing content, you can also view how each page is performing.  If you have an ecommerce site, you’ll have access to revenue reports and top product reports too.

Google Webmaster Tools integration gives you feedback on search engine crawling issues and messages from Webmaster Tools.  Motivity also allows you to submit a sitemap and change settings such as: crawl rate, geolocation, and preferred domain.

Google Adwords integration allows you to view your adwords campaign performance.  You can drill down into a campaign’s ad group and view clicks, impressions, cost, conversion rates and more.  You can also drill down from an ad group to view keyword performance.  Again, everything is easily accessible  from within Motivity.

Google Maps integration allows content editors to easily add a google map to show their business location and control what information the user sees.  You can select multiple indicators for an end location, zoom in, zoom out, and edit the fields to display what you would like – including a logo, call to action, and more.  This API makes adding a map to your site easy.

These new features are integrated into the ecommerce version of Motivity and they make it easy to track sales, view conversions, and use Google Website Optimizer to test and edit calls to action to increase sales for products or services.  Our Google Analytics integration even allows per page and per product tracking, giving even more visibility into site performance.  Now when your boss or client asks you about website sales figures, you can have the answer right at your finger tips.   Even better, they can go in and check them out themselves anytime.
