While employed at SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utilities District), Kayden Kelly was informed that the company intended to have its web site redesigned that year. With no manpower readily available within the company, Kayden proposed contracting the work out.
With experience in programming and web design, Kayden seized the opportunity to submit a proposal to complete the web site and started Blast Web Design & Internet Services, which he ran from his home office in Auburn, CA. Soon word of mouth took hold, the workload grew and clients began to take notice. Blast was soon in need of employees and a larger office space to further develop and expand the new company.
By early 2000 the Internet is it - everyone wants a website and everyone thinks they have the next "big idea". We take on a lot of dot-com clients, and small businesses and within a year we have outgrown our office on High Street. Hewlett Packard contracts us to produce marketing and sales presentations leading to a relationship that lasts for several years to come. Audio Editions contracts us, starting off with one project and extending into a relationship that exists to this day.
In 2001 the company incorporated, changed its name to Blast Design Studio and moved to a new location in Downtown Auburn. Winning a local award lifts our name to the top of the marquee in the Sacramento region and in the face of the dot-com bust, new work continues to flow. While our competitors grow too big, too fast, Blast stands unfazed.
Over the next couple of years our focus soon shifts to bolstering the proprietary eCommerce and Content management solutions built in ColdFusion, called SiteDrive, and our client portfolio reflects a mix of stable businesses and government entities like Wells Fargo, Kaiser Permanente, PARMA and CSAC-EIA. A concious effort is made to recruit and develop an experienced and diverse staff to serve this wide array of clients and accommodate the growing list of companies interested in working with Blast. Lockheed-Martin, Placer County, Alameda County and Teichert Construction join our list of satisfied clients.
In 2005 our reputation as a full service design and development agency continues to grow as Retalix Ltd., Lennar Corporation and California ISO join our list of satisfied clients. We complete projects ranging from marketing presentations to online event management to advertising to sales and seminar brochures and we turn to ASP .NET as our featured applications development tool.
Our phenomenal growth spurs the need to bring on several more employees in just a couple of months and by January 2006 the staff has nearly doubled. Then, in an effort to assure our clients that Blast is a company that will be around in the long run, a plan is hatched to purchase some new diggs that will match the flair and professionalism we bring to all of our projects and accommodate our *humongous* staff.
In June 2006 Blast Design Studio, Inc. relocated to our new offices in Roseville, CA, a cutting edge creative environment that showcases the quality and integrity with which we operate, and re-emerged as Blast Advanced Media. Now poised to make an impact on a national level, the company broadens its offerings to both regional and global clients with web-based systems and multi-disciplinary marketing programs that add customers, increase revenues, and allow employees and business partners to make better decisions.
