Improved User Experience through Website Strategy, Usability Testing and Design Collaboration.

To ensure their brand transcended from radio to web, K-LOVE engaged with Blast Advanced Media as a strategic partner, and Blast created a website development strategy, identified key performance indicators and goals, created the information architecture and wireframes, and performed usability testing. We also collaborated closely with their designers and programmers throughout the process, offering expertise in browser-compatibility and front-end design.

The end result is a clean, well-organized website which allows listeners to fully participate with the K-LOVE online community.

Challenge

K-LOVE Radio needed Blast to create a web strategy for a multi-faceted project which included many moving parts. K-LOVE’s design team needed design and page layout guidance to achieve user-friendly web pages that were well-organized and easy to navigate. The also needed feedback from loyal listeners and site visitors about the upcoming changes to the site's design, layout and organization to make sure the planned changes met the users' goals, and that the finished site provided an enjoyable and engaging user experience.

Result

Blast developed a 3 phased development approach to ensure proper goals and timelines. This approach implemented the guidance Blast gave with website strategy, information architecture, planning and more. Blast provided guidance to help K-LOVE's design team create web pages utilizing the wireframes provided by the Blast usability experts. They also provided a style guide, as well as CSS/XHTML development support to ensure cross-browser compatibility and quality.

Using card sorting, competitive research and user feedback, Blast provided navigation naming recommendations to help users easily find what they're looking for. They also identified key user tasks and personas, created a site prototype, and performed usability testing in their on-site lab to identify user stumbling blocks before development began.

After development was complete, Blast performed user acceptance testing to ensure the site met users' expectations. The findings, including recorded usability testing sessions, and a detailed presentation and report of the results were consolidated and given to K-LOVE.
